Mae C. Watson also known to many as Ma, 92, of Sanford, passed away Sunday April 28, 2024. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday May 7, 2024, at 11:00am at Center United Methodist Church. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held following the service.
Mae was born to the late Milton Lee Cox and Lula Mae Allen Cox. She loved the outdoors, working in her yard, and was an avid bird watcher. She was a lifelong member at Center United Methodist Church. She was the recipient of the following, Lay person of the year, Mission Recognition and Lifetime Service Award. She was the president of UMW for many years and was representative on the district level, Sunday School teacher and choir member and loved helping in The Selah Garden. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband John William Watson, and siblings Edna Hall, Marie Rosser, Paul Cox, and Dale Cox.
She is survived by her son Tim Watson (Brenda) of Carthage; daughter Renee Watson Thomas of Sanford; son Randy Watson (Judy) of Sanford; grandchildren Michelle Appling, Matthew Watson, Jacquelyn Chludzinski (John), Casey Kiser (Jason), Kristie McNeill (Chris), Lauren Cox (Matt), Chelsea Newville (Vince), and Macie Davis (Dalton); great grandchildren Carson Appling, Lexie Appling, Liam O’Herlihy, Bryana Banks, Noah Banks, Peyton Chuldzinski, Hunter Dew, Fischer Dew, Alex Kiser, Aaron Kiser, McKenzie McNeill, Hannah McNeill, Truett Cox, Thomas Cox, and Rylee Newville; 5 great great-grandchildren; and siblings Elsie Cameron and Helen Maddox.
Friends can stop by the funeral home between the hours of 10am and 4pm to pay their respects on Monday (5/6/24).
The family will receive friends Monday May 6, 2024, at her home starting at 5pm.
