William Randle Kennedy, Jr.

William Randle “Bill” Kennedy Jr., 87 of Apex, formerly of Sanford passed away Tuesday April 17, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Friday at First Baptist Church Chapel.  Burial will follow at 2:00pm Lafayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville

Mr. Kennedy was born in Fayetteville, NC son of the late William Randle Kennedy and Beulah Catherine Dawkins Kennedy. Bill went to N.C. State University on a Football Scholarship and played Freshman Baseball. He graduated with a degree in construction engineering. In July of 1955 he married Hilda Bullard before being drafted into the US Army. He was an Engineer & Surveyor working in Massachusetts, Tampa Florida and finally arriving in Sanford in 1967. There he opened Ragsdale Engineers and worked for Carolina Trace and later Carolina Lakes laying out the golf courses. Later he opened Bill Kennedy and Associates. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Sanford and the Hymns and Hers Choir, the NCSU Alumni Assn, the Elks Lodge and the Moose Lodge.

Mr. Kennedy is survived by his wife, Dr. Hilda Bullard Kennedy; sons William Randle Kennedy III, and Timothy Gilmore Kennedy both of Apex; a daughter, Jennibeth Kennedy Brackett, son-in-law Daryl of Cary; two grandchildren, Mitchell and Adrienne Brackett.

The family will greet friends beginning at 10:00am Friday in the Parlor at First Baptist Church.
