Vernon James Yow, 82, passed away Monday, October 21, 2019. A long-life residence of Carthage, NC, he became well known as "The Master Mechanic." After retiring from Barloworld, Vernon continue his love which was mechanic work. Vernon made many friends while working on tractors and different types of equipment. He was also a praying mechanic that began his work each day with a prayer. His friends can testify that Vernon always had prayer with them before he began the task at hand.
Vernon was the son of the late Watson Yow and Bessie Tillman Yow of Carthage. He was a man of God, wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He served the Lord in many capacities. He was a deacon, sang in the choir, was a superintendent, as well as being an usher. He also considered it an honor to serve 9 years in the National Guard.
Mr. Yow is survived by his wife, Edna Talbert Yow, daughter, Paula Yow Montgomery (James) of Burlington; son Vernon "VJ" James Yow II (Rosemary) of Dallas, TX; grandchildren Jacob Yow, James Yow, and John Yow; sister, Faye Yow Bailey (Jerry) of Broadway and three nieces.
The family will receive friends from 6PM till 8PM, Friday at the Solid Rock Community Church, 989 White Hill Rd, Sanford, NC. Graveside services will be held at 11:00AM Saturday (10/26/19) at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church cemetery located at 2237 Camp Easter Rd, Carthage, NC.
