Trudy Catherine Green Forrest

Trudy Catherine Green Forrest passed away peacefully at her home Wednesday February 22nd, 2023.

Born November 24th, 1943, Trudy is survived by her brother Daniel (Gwen) of Texas, brother-in-law Greg of New York, two nieces Kira and Lisa of New York and nephew Ian of Texas and many cousins. She is also survived by her best friend Wendy Black and “adopted by love” daughter Kari Kedzierski and special friend Jim Squires. All of Sanford.

Trudy was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Patricia Green, her sister Anne, nephew Erik and her beloved Kitty “Black Satin” who was her constant companion for over 18 years.

Trudy dedicated her life to the service of others. She was a school psychologist for Bertie County Schools for many years. She left her career there to move to Sanford to care for her mother and continued her work at Lee Senior High School and Southern Lee High School as a substitute teacher. She was a Guardian Ad Litem in Lee County and served several children that became “Her Kids”. Trudy volunteered her time at HAVEN and the Lee County Enrichment Center among other charities.

Trudy traveled the world and never met a stranger. If you were ever introduced to her, you became a lifelong friend and she never forgot your name. Trudy would spend hours telling stories of her travels and what exciting stories they were!

Nothing made Trudy quite as happy as a Sunday date to the Ballet! She held season passes until she was no longer physically able to attend.

Trudy loved treating friends and family to Myrtle Beach trips! Brookgreen Gardens was one of her favorite places to visit and she never tired of walking through. She especially loved going during Christmas when they were lit up with thousands of Christmas Lights!

Trudy will be missed by all that loved her and all that had the pleasure of knowing her.

The family would like to thank Liberty Home Care and Hospice of Sanford NC for the care they provided during Trudy's final days. They would also like to extend an extra special thank you for the love and care given by her long-term caregivers Lanee King and Katrina Rogers. There are no words that can ever express the appreciation of the gentleness and kindness that was given to Trudy by these special caregivers and ALL of her caregivers over the last five years.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Trudy at 2:00 PM on March 18, 2023, at San Lee Park in Sanford NC.
