Tony Wayne Carroll

Tony Wayne Carroll, 73, of Sanford, passed away on October 3, 2026.

Tony was the son of the late Paul Harris Carroll and Lucille Olive Carroll. He retired from Public Service Company of North Carolina in 2019 after 43 years of service. He loved his family, his children and grandchildren, and rarely missed a ball game or event they were part of.

Tony was a member of Pocket Presbyterian Church, where he served on the Session and volunteered his time caring for the church grounds. He loved golf, and he spent his vacations at the beach or in the mountains.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joyce Berryhill Carroll; son Chad Harris Carroll (Erin); daughter Erin Carroll Smith; grandchildren Maeson D. Smith, Avram D. Smith, Evelyn C. Carroll, Charlotte L. Carroll, Anna Tapper, and Landon Tapper; sister Donna Carroll Ellis (Johnny); brother-in-law Larry Blankenship; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Dewey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Carroll, and his sister, Paulette Carroll Blankenship.

A private interment will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 10, 2026. Visitation will be at 10:30 am at Pocket Presbyterian Church, followed by a memorial service at 11:30 am.
