Thomas Heins Palmer

Thomas "Tom" Heins Palmer, age 65 of Raleigh, NC, formerly of Sanford, passed away suddenly May 25th, 2023. He was the son of the late Hugh Alston and Betty Heins Palmer of Sanford NC and Greenville SC. He was preceded in death by his brother Charles Parker Palmer.

Tom was born June 10th, 1957, in Greenville, SC. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1975 and attended Clemson University. Due to his mental illness, he moved to Atlanta and received specialized care at Skyland Trail where his love of horticulture blossomed. He moved to Raleigh in 2022, where he resided until his passing.

Throughout his life, he loved going to the beach, taking long walks, and spending time with family. Tom's life will forever be loved and cherished in the lives of his sister Marsha Blue Palmer, brother Hugh "Hap" Alston Palmer III, and nephews James "Jim" Alston Palmer, Hugh "Alston" Palmer IV, and Grayson Maxwell Palmer. Tom will be remembered as a caring and thoughtful person to those whose lives he touched.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 14th at Buffalo Cemetery in Sanford, NC. Memorial contributions may be made to Foundation of Hope, 9401 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC 27617, or Healing Transition, 1251 Goode Street, Raleigh, NC 27603.
