Susan Swindell

Susan Turlington Swindell, 84 of Sanford peacefully passed away Wednesday evening, September 9, 2020.

Mrs. Swindell was born in Fremont, NC a daughter of the late Oscar Eli Turlington and Evelyn Hooks Turlington. She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Scott Swindell Jr, and a sister, Evelyn “Ebbie” Mooring. Susan was a member of Jonesboro United Methodist Church and an avid NC State football fan. She loved her family especially her time spent with her grandchildren as well as the beach weekends with her sisters. For many years she worked as a bookkeeper with Four Seasons Florist and John Wm. Brown Co, and as a seamstress with Avent & Thomas.

Mrs. Swindell is survived by her children, W. Scott Swindell III (Kay), Robert “Frank” Swindell (Cindy), Elizabeth “Liz” Swindell Garner (James), and Evelyn Swindell Rugh (Frank); grandchildren, W Scott Swindell IV, Sarah Elizabeth Swindell, Emily Elizabeth Garner, Anna Katherine Swindell, Hannah Leigh Garner, Justin Brock Sloan, and Lauren Brooke Sloan; sisters, Linda Mooring, Anita Kyles, Betsy Smith, and Eliza McBride; lots of special nieces and nephews.

There will be a private family committal service with a Celebration of Life service to be held at a later date.
