Sharon Brumitt Raschke December 20, 1945 – November 3, 2025
Sharon Brumitt Raschke, 79, of Sanford, North Carolina, passed away peacefully surrounded by love on November 3, 2025. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, on December 20, 1945, Sharon lived a life defined by love, faith, and devotion to her family.
She was the wife of the late Kenneth Raschke, and the proud mother of three sons: Mark Raschke and his wife Heather, Michael Raschke and his partner Trevor, and Gregory Raschke. Sharon was a devoted grandmother who cherished every moment with her grandchildren — Charlie, Hailey, and Andrew Raschke — who brought her endless pride and joy.
After spending the first part of her adult life as a devoted mom, Sharon returned to school to pursue higher education, earning her undergraduate degree from Elmhurst College and a master’s degree from Northern Illinois University. She went on to spend more than a decade as a social worker in DuPage County, Illinois, dedicating her professional life to helping others with compassion and integrity.
After retiring, Sharon was deeply involved in her community. She was an active volunteer with the Hearts and Hands Quilt Guild, a dedicated Master Gardener, and an avid quilter, finding joy and creativity in every project she touched. She was a lifelong card player, passing along her love of Hand and Foot and of all things Christmas to her family.
Sharon was preceded in death by her sister Beverly Plassmeyer and is survived by her brother-in-law Gary Plassmeyer, along with many other nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends who will remember her spirit and generosity.
Sharon’s generosity, friendship, and unwavering love for her family were constants throughout her life. Whether hosting family gatherings, offering a listening ear, or sharing laughter over a cup of tea, she made everyone around her feel at home.
A mass will be held at 1pm on December 19th at St. Stephen the First Martyr in Sanford and a Celebration of Life at 11:30am on December 20th at the Carolina Trace Clubhouse. In lieu of flowers, the family invites those who wish to honor her memory to do so through a charitable gift of your choice or by spending time with loved ones — just as Sharon would have wanted.
