Ruth Sjaardema, 96 was born in Chicago, Illnois on February 9, 1924 and passed away on April 8, 2020 at Parkview retirement Home in Sanford, NC. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald of 71 years.
She is survived by two daughters, Cindy Hall (William) of Sanford, and Donna Ruth Bowden (David) of Bloomington, Indiana; one son, Randall J. Sjaardema (Maggie) of Ocean Ridge, FL; 10 cherished grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Ruth lived up to her biblical name as a devoted hardworking wife, and a godly mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren. She was well known for her delicious Sunday dinners, and she loved entertaining friends. She loved music and was the organist at Wheaton Christian Reformed Church (Illinois) and then Bradenton Christian Reformed Church (Florida) for over 50 combined years. Her favorite time to play was Easter when she could celebrate our risen Savior. She was still able to play the piano beautifully until just recently.
A service will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, DC where she will be buried beside her husband Donald, an EX-POW from WWII.
