Robert Olin Powell

Robert Olin “Bob” Powell, 77 of Sanford passed away Tuesday August 31, 2021. A Graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday at Lemon Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Bob was born in Whiteville, NC, son of the late Dan Troy Powell and Virginia Watson Powell. He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Genevieve Johnson Buchanan Powell and a stepbrother, Richard Buchanan. Mr. Powell was a Veteran of the US Army, attended Mt Olive College and later graduated from Kings Business College. He enjoyed dancing and even taught Ballroom dancing at the Arthur Murray Ballroom Dance Studio. He loved Lemon Springs United Methodist Church and for many years was the Choir Director and also played the piano and organ.

Mr. Powell is survived by his wife, Doris Depinet Powell; daughter, Anne Powell; two stepbrothers, Tommy Buchanan and Sammy Buchanan.
