Nellie Cox

Nellie Lett Cox, 89 of Sanford peacefully passed away Friday morning, March 27th, 2020. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday at Buffalo Cemetery.

Mrs. Cox was born in Lee Co, a daughter of the late Landon Gray Lett and Elsie Sloan Lett. When Nellie was nine months old, her mother passed away and she was raised by her grandparents, Ed and Ida Lett. In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Sims Cox; sisters, Eunice Dotterer and Otis Wallace.

Nellie graduated from Broadway High School in 1949 and was her class Valedictorian. She later earned her Business Degree from Campbell College and worked for many years at CCCC in the Financial Aid Dept and as Secretary to the President. After CCCC, she operated Nellie’s Outlet for many years.

Mrs. Cox is survived by her son, Gregory Sims Cox and wife, My-Linh of Sanford; a grandson, Preston Van Cox; many nieces and nephews.
