Nancey Louise Kirby

Nancey Louise Kirby, 77, of Sanford passed away unexpectedly on Sunday July 26, 2026, at her home. Private graveside services to be held at a later date.

A 1967 graduate of Deep River High School, she was a member of Beta Club, Choir and many more activities and clubs. She attended Turner’s Chapel for a number of years where she sang alto in the choir. Her favorite song was “I Would Love to Tell You What I Think About Jesus.” Her hobbies included singing, landscaping, plants, and outdoors. She was a kind person who never met a stranger. She enjoyed walks in the park with her siblings and while there she would ask families and individuals with pets if they would like their picture taken so they could remember their time at the park. They would always respond with “Yes, please!” Her favorite of her careers was being a photographer. She and two other ladies traveled the United States taking pictures. Following her retirement, she was always ready to photograph her beloved family and friends at events. She truly cherished her family, and they regarded her as a caretaker in the highest form.

Nancey was preceded in death by her parents Shula Alexander Kirby and Lucille Dollar Kirby; brothers Samuel Duncan Kirby, Larry Douglas Kirby, and Bill James Kirby; and sisters Barbara L. Maddox and Joann Liles.

She is survived by her brother Robert Wayne Kirby; sisters Susan Kirby Smith and Judy Kriby Grissom (Thomas); nephews Marvin “Jake” Kirby (Debbie), Daryl Kirby (Lynn), and Ronnie Maddox; nieces Tonda Phillips (Paul), Lori Britt (Robb), and Anita Phillips (Ernest); sister in laws Pat Kirby and Kathy Kirby; and many more great nieces and nephews.
