Maxine Jackson Auman, 98 of Sanford peacefully passed away Thursday, May 16, 2024. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 28th at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Sanford, NC. Burial will follow at Buffalo Cemetery.
Mrs. Auman was born in Sanford, NC, raised in Carthage and she attended Elon College. She was the daughter of the late Hugh Wilton Jackson and Viola Wallace Jackson. Her husband of 68 years Howard C. Auman preceded her in death along with her brother Hugh Donald Jackson and her grandson David Lloyd Jr. Mrs. Auman was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church where she served many capacities and received the Presbyterian Women of the Church Lifetime Membership Award. For many years, Mrs. Auman taught dance, volunteered at the local hospital and schools. She was a lover of birds, bridge, tennis and word games. She was much loved and admired for the way she lived her meaningful life.
Mrs. Auman is survived by her daughters, Anne Auman Lloyd (David) and Kay Auman Newsom (Larry); grandchildren Kristan Lloyd, Kate Cabral (Stephen), Garrett Newsom (Danni), Jill Mackey (Rob), and Scott Lloyd (Marya); great grandchildren, Landon Lloyd, Kyley Lloyd, Jackson Cabral, Audrey Lloyd, and Sydney Lloyd; many nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends Tuesday, May 28th beginning at 1:00 p.m. prior to the funeral in the Colonnade at First Presbyterian Church.
