Mary Alice McNeill Short

Mary Alice McNeill Short, 82, of Sanford passed away on March 18, 2026. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday March 24, 2026, at 11am at Holly Springs Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday March 23 from 6-8pm in the church Multi-Purpose Building.

Mary Alice was born in Harnett Co. to the late Curtis Madison McNeill and Monie Jane McNeill. She was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church and strong in her faith. She loved being with family, especially her grand and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles Richard Short Jr.; siblings Lester McNeill, Shelby Glascock, Mildred Hinant, and Curtis McNeill.

She is survived by her daughter Tracy Perry (Scott); grandchildren Tori Thompson (Colin), Kelsey Brinley (Zeke), Cliff Perry, and Haley Eck (Ben); great grandchildren Cato, Owen, Amelia, Palmer, and Ila Jane; brother Roy McNeill; sister Betty Sue Gray (Lee Ray); and many nieces and nephews that she cherished.
