Leo Watson McKenzie

Leo Watson McKenzie, 86 of Sanford passed away Saturday May 21, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm Tuesday May 24, 2022, at Shallow Well Church. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.

Mr. McKenzie was born in Sanford, son of the late Dossie Colon McKenzie and Mae Watson McKenzie. He was preceded in death by his parents and his niece Deborah Johnson.

Mr. McKenzie is survived by his wife of 64 years Rachel Maddox McKenzie; son Allen McKenzie and wife Audra of Sanford; grandchildren Alex and Anna McKenzie; sister Mary Lou Lowry (Robert) of Cary; nieces Carolyn Lowry of Cary and Sandra Pittman of Charleston, SC. Also, his grand dog BELLA.

Mr. McKenzie loved to spend time with friends and family eating out, enjoyed precious time with their grandchildren doing things, traveling, and Wednesday mornings with the men at Hardee’s breakfast group. He enjoyed Saturday spending time with Allen and friends at the shop working and milling trees on the sawmill.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Parlor at Shallow Well Church.
