Kevin Wayne Anderson
November 5, 1954- July 4, 2025
Kevin Anderson, our beloved son and brother, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Sanford, North Carolina on Friday July 4th 2025. Kevin, age 70, experienced a sudden cardiac event while clearing tree damage caused by a thunderstorm earlier in the week.
Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Kevin was the second son of Clifton W. and Erma M. Anderson. He graduated from North Central High School, Indianapolis Indiana, in 1972 and from there attended Wartburg College in Waverly, IA. In the years following he did farm work in the Bend, Oregon area, before entering a technical program that led to a civil placement at the Presidio, in San Francisco, CA servicing and installing equipment in government offices throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
Kevin came to North Carolina from the Bay Area in the mid 1990’s seeking work in the Research Triangle to be closer to parents Clifton and Erma who had followed Clif’s employment to Charlottesville, VA, where they retired. Kevin was employed at EMC in Apex, NC which was later acquired by Dell to form Dell Technologies. He was still employed at EMC Dell at the time of his passing.
From his youth, Kev was an avid fan of aircraft, especially WW II era propeller driven planes. He played baritone horn throughout HS and participated in marching band. His first band instrument was a double-belled euphonium played by father Clif in his youth. He enjoyed singing in the choir at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sanford, NC and he lives on in many of the Trinity Lutheran Vimeo.com archive videos of choir performances and worship services.
Kevin was preceded in death by father Clifton in 2015, and is survived by his mother Erma, of Charlottesville, VA and Cary, NC who is now 100, older brother Kim (Mary Jo) of Santa Rosa CA, younger brother Eric Anderson, niece Lauren Anderson, beloved Aunts and many cousins.
A memorial will not be held at this time, however, please consider making a donation to Kevin’s refuge from the storms of life, Trinity Lutheran Church at https://www.tlcsanford.org/give to support the congregations’ continued growth and generosity to the community.
