Ken Duffy

Dr. Ken Duffy, 79, of Sanford passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026. A memorial service will be held on Monday May 18, 2026, at 11:00 am at St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church.

Ken proudly served his country in the United States Navy, retiring with the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Following his military service, he pursued higher education with dedication and distinction. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida, and later received a master’s degree from Nova University, a master’s degree from UCF and his Ph.D. from Capella University.

Throughout his professional life, Ken worked in a variety of social work programs and taught undergraduate and graduate courses in counseling and sociology at Ft. Bragg. He retired after a career as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Clinical Supervisor.

Ken was a devoted servant of God whose faith guided his life and work. He deeply loved his wife, cherished his cats, and found joy in the color green and all things Irish.

He was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth Frank Duffy Sr. and Sarah Elizabeth Robbins Duffy.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Duffy of Sanford; siblings Rita Langland of Sumter, Sara Reames of Sumter, Michael Duffy of Greenville, SC, Eileen Bernard of Jacksonville, AR, and Douglas Duffy of Sumter; 6 nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and great nephews.
