Joseph Edwin Martin

Joseph Edwin Martin, 70, of Sanford, passed away on October 02, 2026. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 10th at St. Stephen Catholic Church at 1:30pm. The family will greet friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall.

Joe was born in Hagerstown Maryland to the late John David Martin Sr. and Beverly Ford Martin. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his siblings Dave Martin (Rhonda); Pete Martin (Jo Ann), Patty Kidd, Mary Martin, Becky Steele, and Charlie Martin and preceded in death by his brothers-in-laws, Randy Kidd and Raymond Steele; and sister-in-law, Melissa Martin.

He is survived by his wife, Joni Johnstone Martin; daughter, Claire Butler (Sean); son, Daniel Martin (Alex); grandchildren, Ryder Butler, Webb Butler, Maclaine Butler, Renalds Martin, and Virigina Martin. Joe was a family man and always enjoyed time with them. Claire and Daniel were his pride and joy. He loved sharing a meal out with them and their families and always made time for a donut and any sweet treat. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sports games and talking stats and sports details with the grandsons especially ones involving his favorite Fighting Irish! The granddaughters kept him busy with recitals, singing, dancing and snuggles watching tv together.

Up until retirement Joe was busy with his family operating John-Beverly Printers for 49 years. He was a life-long devoted member of St. Stephen Catholic Church. He also served on the Sanford City Counsel for 16 yrs, served on the United Way Board, volunteered with Meals on Wheels, worked as a City of Sanford fireman, served as an official in football, baseball, and basketball games. After retirement he enjoyed working with COLTS of Lee County.
