Johnsie Lee Tipton

Johnsie Lee Redding Tipton, 65 of Sanford peacefully passed away Thursday October 3, 2019.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday October 9th at Rogers Pickard Funeral Home.

Johnsie was born in Lee Co., a lifelong resident of the Colon Community, to the late Lessie Lee Nalls Redding and John Aaron Redding. She attended McIver School, graduated from Sanford Central High School, Central Carolina Community College and Sandhills Community College. Johnsie’s first job was as a radio announcer with WEEB Radio in Southern Pines. Later, in 1978, she went to work with the Sandhills Citizen then worked for The Pilot from 1994 until her retirement in 2019. Johnsie also had a love of birds. She considered all birds “Gods Feathered Angels”

Surviving is her husband, Dean R. Tipton of Sanford.
