Johnny Emory Stanley

Johnny Emory Stanley passed away on Monday, March 9th at his residence.

He was born in Chatham County on March 24th, 1931 to the late William Earl Stanley and Oliva Stanley. He graduated from Greenwood School and East Carolina University. He served in the Navy from 1951 to 1955. He was employed by Virtrol Aircraft Corporation in Philadelphia, P.A. before moving back to his original home in Sanford. He worked in contracting acoustical ceilings and insulation until retiring in 1996.

Mr. Stanley enjoyed many activities including golf, fishing, and gardening. He was also an accomplished artist. He enjoyed genealogy writing three books on his family history.

Mr. Stanley was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Shirley Stanley and his son, Johnny Stanley Jr. Also, preceding him were his siblings, Elsie Harris, William Stanley, Marjorie Herman, and Billy Stanley.

He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Loft and husband Bob Loft, son David Stanley and wife Kelly Stanley, and daughter Debbie Byrd, five grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at his residence 5245 Swann Station Road, Sanford, NC 27330 from 1 to 3pm on Saturday March 14th.
