Joel Keith Thomas, Sr

Joel K. “The Bowman” Thomas, 79 of Sanford passed away Monday October 1, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 11:30am Saturday October 6th at Rogers Pickard Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Cemetery.

Mr. Thomas was born in Lee Co, a son of the late Elbert Gilbert Thomas and Ida Sawyer Thomas. He coached numerous kids in recreation Mite League football for “The Giants” for many years. He also was known by many people as “The Bowman”, with his hunting and accessories business he and his wife operated for 30 years before their retirement in 2016.

Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife Helen Marie Thomas; daughter, Sheila Holt and husband Jerry of Sanford; son Joel Keith Thomas, Jr and wife Norma Jean of Sanford; two grandchildren, Christine Holt and Jordan Holt; one brother, Michael S. Thomas of Sanford.

The family will greet friends beginning at 10:00am Saturday before the funeral at the Funeral Home, and other times at 998 Zion Church Road, Sanford.
