Jobie Fletcher Chute, 83, of Sanford passed away on Monday May 4, 2026. A celebration of life will be Sat. May 23 from 2-5pm at Carolina Trace Country Club.
Jobie was a beloved daughter, mother, wife, and treasured friend to many. She was born in South Carolina, lived in 27 states as a child because of her father’s work, and then settled in Michigan at 18. She and her husband then moved to Sanford, NC in 1979 and were one of the first residents of Carolina Trace.
She was a very talented person who enjoyed crafting of all kinds, cooking, baking, music, reading, and the ocean. She was a beautician by trade, but her real love was dancing. She taught ballroom for many years but found her real passion in country line dancing. She was in a popular line dancing group in the 90s called the Carolina Country Strokers. They even performed on television. Later in life she taught line dancing to her friends and community in Carolina Trace.
She was preceded in death by her husband John “Jack” Chute and parents Lloyd and Billie Fletcher.
She is survived by her daughter Jenie Chute and stepson Tim Chute.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CARA (Carolina Animal Rescue and Adoption- https://www.cara-nc.org/) at 42 Deep River Rd, Sanford, NC 27330 or the ASPCA (https://www.aspca.org/) at PO Box 96929 Washington, DC 20090-6929.
