Jean Satterfield Gunter

Jean Satterfield Gunter, 95 of Sanford passed away Wednesday April 6, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Monday April 11, 2022, at Pocket Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Buffalo Cemetery.

Mrs. Gunter was born in Caswell Co, daughter of the late Harvey Satterfield and Jessie Cox Satterfield. She was a lifelong member of Pocket Presbyterian Church. She loved tending to her yard and flowers, and fishing at the beach. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Jewell W. Gunter, and niece Sandra Dixon.

Mrs. Gunter is survived by her daughters, Paula G. Troutman (Gary) of Cleveland, NC, Jayne G. Doss (Ronnie), and Carla G. Barnes (Rocky) both of Sanford; six grandchildren Jessica Troutman (Chris), Caitlin Troutman (Matt), Rachel Shackelford (Ryan), Aaron Barnes (Holly), Melanie Graham (Derrick) and Mitchell Doss (Jill); eight great-grandchildren Kaison Taylor, Ansleigh Taylor, Wesley Doss, Hannah Doss, Landon Graham, Leah Graham, Laycee Shackelford, and Riley Shackelford; sister Mary Moretz;  and nephews Clay Moretz (Nan) and Mike Moretz (Dawn) and several great nephews and nieces. 

The family will receive friends Monday starting at 1:00 pm in the fellowship hall at Pocket Presbyterian Church and other times, the family will gather at Jean’s home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
