James Richard Laurie

James Richard “Jim” Laurie, 75 of Sanford passed away Sunday April 28, 2019. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday at First Baptist Church Sanctuary.  The family will greet friends following the service in the Church Parlor.

 

Mr. Laurie was born in Baltimore County, Maryland, a son of the late James C. Laurie and Fae Zimbower. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Lishok Laurie.  Jim was a US Navy Veteran and a member of First Baptist Church. 

 

Mr. Laurie is survived by his wife, Karen Barr Laurie; daughters, Melissa A. Laurie of Odenton, MD and Erin C. Laurie of Chapel Hill; siblings, Hugh Laurie (Nancy) of DE, Ellen Roller (Vince) of MD; Jane Waclowski (Mark) of MD and Jean Sudina (Jim) of MD; many nieces and nephews.

Jim was a kind and generous man; a gracious host who welcomed me into his home and made me feel glad to be there. He is missed. It was my pleasure to have know him.

Prayers for Karen and Erin to able to go on without him. He will be missed by all who knew him.
