Jack Anderson Simpson Jr.
Sergeant First Class Jack Anderson Simpson Jr., 74, of Cameron, passed away peacefully on July 18th, 2026.
Jack was born to his namesake, Jack Anderson Simpson, in Fitzgerald, Georgia. He was raised by his father, and paternal grandmother, Minnie Estelle Anderson Simpson, whom he adored.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Billy Jack Simpson, his sisters Mavis Jorene Turner and Sandra Wilson Thompson, and his wife Gervaye Marie (Serrahn) Simpson.
Jack dedicated his lifetime to service.
He attended Fitzgerald High School, and joined the Army prior to graduating. He dutifully served his country in the Vietnam War and The Gulf War, both Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He is a decorated war veteran and has received the following medals for his time served; Army Commendation Medal, 4 Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Services Ribbon, and Army Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge M-16.
He is recognized for his Federal Service as a government contractor in classified roles under Department of Defense Command Support, CECOM and TECOM. He was awarded the TECOM Professional Certificate for his exemplary service, and contributions to a diversity of military communications projects.
Jack Anderson Simpson Jr. was the embodiment of “Jack-of-All-Trades.”
In his lifetime he excelled at many professions; a farmer, a baker, a soldier, a mechanic, a paramedic, a pastor, a counselor, a beekeeper, and as an auctioneer. He dedicated his final decade as caregiver to his wife of 45 years.
He is survived by his children; Jack A. Simpson III (Jamie), Ira J. Donovan, Tina Michelle (Simpson) Spry, Ted K. Marble and wife Tiffany, Kristie Simpson, Andrew H. Simpson and fiancé River Warren, Anthony T. Simpson and wife Maude, and Lisa Estelle (Simpson) Barrett and husband David; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren.
Jack served his community through his final days and will be missed.
He will be laid to eternal rest alongside his beloved wife, Gervaye, at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.
