Harriett Tice

Harriett Murphy Tice, of Sanford peacefully passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2019. A Memorial service will be held at 11:30am Friday at St Francis Anglican Church.

Mrs. Tice was born in Rose Hill, AL, a daughter of the late John Gribbin Murphy and Mary Frost Murphy. She was preceded in death by siblings, Eleanor Robinson, Thomas Murphy, John Murphy, James Murphy, and Margaret Ann Branch. Harriett was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an avid reader, a member of the Suzanne Reeves Literary Club, a former Board Member of the Lee Co Library. She was a former a member of the original Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Central Carolina. She also was a former member of the Board of Governors of the Boys and Girls Club of America, and in 2006 was the recipient of the “National Medallion” their most coveted award.

Mrs. Tice is survived by her husband of 62 years, Lloyd Morris “Buddy” Tice; children, Jeff Tice and wife Lisa of Greenville, SC, Lisa Meadows of Sanford and Joe Tice and wife Susan of Sanford; and grandchildren, Colin Tice and wife Kristen, Sarah Berton and husband Alex, and Anderson Meadows.

The family will greet friends following the memorial service at a buffet reception at The Flame, 109 Carbonton Road, Sanford.
