Gaynelle Matthews Cox

Gaynelle Matthews Cox, 96, of Sanford passed away on Thursday October 2, 2025. Funeral services will be held on Monday October 6, 2025, at Pocket Presbyterian Church at 2pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Gaynelle was born in Lee Co., a daughter of the late Ezra Quinton Matthews and Beulah Allen Matthews. She loved working on her family farm, going to church, participating in the Sewing Sisters at church, and her years working at the bank. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Aubrey Mack Cox, and siblings, Edna McDuffie, Gaither Matthews, Glenn Matthews, and Gilbert Matthews.

She is survived by her brother Gray Matthews and wife Vernell; and many nieces and nephews.
