Frozie Woods

Frozie Gates Woods, age 92, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025. Born on February 14, 1933, on a farm in Orange County, North Carolina. Frozie was one of six siblings, all of whom preceded her in death.

Frozie was married for 58 years to Gillie “Pete” Woods, who passed away in 2008. Together, they built a loving home and a lasting legacy in the Hawfields community of Alamance County. She is survived by her two daughters, Sharon Coble of Murrells Inlet, SC, and Gwen Siler (David) of Sanford, NC; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Frozie retired from Western Electric in Alamance County, where she worked in the accounting department and formed lifelong friendships. For the past ten years, she was a resident of Parkview Retirement Home, where even as she bravely battled dementia, her spirited, mischievous, and kindhearted nature made her a favorite among both staff and residents.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 25, at 11:00 a.m. at Hawfields Church Cemetery in Mebane, NC, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved Pete.

Frozie’s strength, wit, and warmth will be remembered always by those who knew and loved her.
