Dorothy Allen Dowdy

Dorothy Allen Dowdy, 83 of Sanford peacefully passed away Sunday February 22, 2026 with her family by her side. Funeral services will be held at Moore Union Christian Church at 2pm on Friday February 27, 2026. Burial will follow at Moore Union Christian Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Dowdy was born in Onslow County, daughter of the late Troy Britton Allen and Minnie Caulder Allen. She loved reading, traveling, camping, playing cards, and being with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis Van Dowdy II and brothers Elbert Allen, Bobby Allen, James Allen, Dalton Ray Allen, and Jerry Allen.

Mrs. Dowdy is survived by her daughter, Kim D. Womack (Kent); sons, Van Dowdy (Mollie) and Jason Adam Dowdy (Deidre); nine grandchildren, Britton Lyczkowski (Paige), Samantha Dowdy, Tanner Lyczkowski, Jadon Dowdy, Addison Dowdy, Gavan Dowdy, Levi Womack, Susan Dowdy, and Gianna Dowdy; great-grandchildren Brodie Lyczkowski, Abel Lyczkowski, and Enoc Dowdy; and sister Margaret Akins (Floyd).

The family will greet friends beginning at 1pm before the service at the church in the church fellowship hall.
