Dorothy (Dot) Badgett Boaz passed away June 15, 2026, at Parkview Retirement in Sanford, NC at the age of 100.
Dot is preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Sidney Boaz; son, Bill Boaz; granddaughter, Julie Roberts; parents, Charlie Elbert Badgett and Fay Matthews Badgett; Brothers, Ralph Badgett and Jack Badgett.
Dot is survived by her daughter, Peggy Roberts and husband Ronnie of Sanford, NC; daughter-in-Law, Wanda Boaz of Sanford, NC. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Christopher Roberts and wife Hilary of Sneads Ferry, NC; Casey Halverstadt and husband, Josh of Sanford, NC; Catherine Morrison and husband, Michael of the Czech Republic; Matthew Roberts and wife, Lauren of Greer, SC and Logan Saponaro and husband, Ben of Cary, NC and eleven great- grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Rachel Lawrence of Greensboro, NC and many loving nieces and nephews.
Dot graduated from Cameron High School and attended Mars Hill College and Kings Business College. She worked for Mack's general offices in Sanford, NC after college and after her marriage, the Veteran's Hospitals in Fayetteville, and Durham, NC. After moving to Sanford, she worked as bookkeeper for Brown's Auto Supply and H&H Auto Supply until she retired in 1969. Dot was Elder Emeritus of the First Presbyterian Church of Sanford where she was a member for 68 years. She served as President of the Women of the Church and received the Women's Life Membership Award. Dot enjoyed playing cards and belonged to many clubs. Her greatest joy in life was being with her family.
Funeral will be held on Saturday, June 20 at 2:00 at the First Presbyterian Church, Sanford, NC with burial following at Buffalo Cemetery, Sanford, NC. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service in the Colonnade at the church.
The family would like to thank Dr. Robert McConville for the years of wonderful care. Parkview Retirement and Amedysis/Hospice for the attention given to her, and Robin Cameron and Barbara Millhouse for the love and wonderful care they gave "Miss Dot".
