Donald Ray Simpson, 79, of Siler City passed away Monday March 20, 2023, at his home.

 

Mr. Simpson was born October 23, 1943 to the late Irene Lankford Simpson and JR Simpson. Donald graduated from Greenwood High School and later went on to Louisburg College. After college he joined his father and the formed their company Simpson and Simpson which is still in business some 60 plus years later, of which he was very proud. Donald and his family made a huge impact on the housing industry, real estate, and multi-family apartment communities in Sanford. “Donnie” as he was known to most, loved what he did and took great pride in all his accomplishments. Even after retirement he still wanted to be involved in the real estate business he loved so much.

 

After moving to Siler City, Donnie’s new passion became collecting classic cars and trucks, of which her loved to show to whomever visited his home. Donnie and Barbara retired on a cattle farm in Silk Hope where they enjoyed raising lots of farm animals. Donnie loved and enjoyed his time on the farm until the day he passed away.

 

He is survived by his wife of 38 years Barbara Hearn Simpson; one son Perry Scott Simpson; two daughters Kim Hager and Paige Simpson; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by two brothers Jimmy Simpson and David Simpson; and step-son Chad Batts.
