Donald Parks Blackwelder, 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, October 6, 2016.
Don was born September 11, 1939, to the late Robert Parks Blackwelder and Mary Jane Howard Blackwelder and was also predeceased by his son, Jeffrey Parks Blackwelder.
Don successfully owned and operated Piedmont Well Company for almost 35 years. He enjoyed family gatherings, golfing with his friends, and taking in beautiful North Carolina scenery from a Harley. He was also a skilled horseman who loved raising and caring for his horses and recounting his many adventures in the American West.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Spell Blackwelder, and their sons Richard Scott Blackwelder (Peggy Taphorn) and David Chadburn Blackwelder (Michelle Blackwelder), all of Sanford; his brothers Scott Blackwelder (Linda Blackwelder) of Fuquay-Varina and Tim Blackwelder (Tamara Blackwelder) of Wilmington; and 2 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016, 11:00a.m., at St Francis Anglican Church with Father Craig Lister officiating.
