Delores Ann Register

Delores Ann Gaines Register, of Goldston peacefully passed away Friday October 11, 2019. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00pm Sunday in the Harper Center of First Presbyterian Church.

Delores was born and raised in Goldston North Carolina to Corbett and Clara Gaines on July 5, 1930. Later she attended Wake Forest University in Wake Forest North Carolina. During those years she met her husband Harry Register and they were married in December of 1949. Delores had many passions in life but her greatest love was her family. Delores dedicated her life to raising her four children and caretaking for love ones and grandchildren. Delores was a member on the First Presbyterian Church in Sanford and a dedicated member for over 50 years.  Delores spent much of her time in community service with the Sanford Hospital, First Presbyterian Church, Meals on wheels, girl scouts just to name a few. Delores had a great love for all animals and was always quick to take a homeless animal and give them shelter and love and nurture them. Delores loved to travel and was always up for a good adventure. She never met a stranger and touched the lives of many with her warm smile and an open door and a glass of sweet tea with lemon. She always made you feel at home and loved no matter who you were or where you came from.

Mrs. Register was preceded in death by her husband Harry Register, her son, David Register, and a brother, Shellie Gaines. Delores is survived by her daughters, Dianne Koontz (Mike) of Concord, Susan Oldham (Donnie) of Sanford, Clara Robbins (Jay) of Cary and daughter in law, Vickie Register of Sanford; brothers, Johnny Gaines of Goldston, Philip Gaines of Siler City, and Max Gaines of Little Washington; grandchildren, Christie Hickman (Jeff), Laurie Fullen (Kelly), David Rodgers, Christopher Register, Janelle Miles, Richard Oldham (Jennifer), Jennifer Williams (Trey), Camille Robbins, Cameron Robbins, and Carson Robbins; great-grandchildren, Corbett Hickman (Alex), Ian Fullen, Emma Fullen, Savanna Miles, Amelia Miles, Evelyn Oldham, Norman Oldham, and Anne Blakely Williams; one great-great-granddaughter, Ellie Hickman.

Delores was an awesome lady, very kind and loving. She loved her family, friends and her Lord. May God bless and comfort all of the family as you grieve her passing. I know that she is with Jesus in that home He has prepared for all who love and believe in Him.

Remembering Delores as a true lady who always welcomed us sweetly.
Praying for you all as you adjust.

I always thought of Delores as a beautiful and genteel southern lady. She distinguished herself with a certain sense of style, poise, and charm. As well, I observed her as polite and mannerly woman with a depth of love and compassion for others. She loved deeply, her family, friends and her faith. I saw in her a joy in living and then there was her particular wit. On occasion I witnessed it, and I recall she could get that mischievous glint in her eyes that so reminded me of Big Mama. I am deeply saddened at the passing of Delores and love and prayers go out to her children and extended family.
