Daniel Carl Egbert

Daniel “Dan” Carl Egbert, Retired U.S. Air Force, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2026 at home, surrounded by family and friends.

Dan was born in Cambridge, England and raised in Pocatello, Idaho. He spent his life serving GOD, family, and his country. Dan served more than 20 years in the United States Air Force, being stationed in Korea, Vietnam, Germany, the Philippines, and numerous U.S. bases. After retiring from the Air Force, he settled down with his family in Sanford and continued in the airline mechanical world.

In addition to his military service, Dan enjoyed serving others, many times behind the scenes. He loved projects for his First Baptist Church Family, serving with his wife Deb on the Meals on Wheels board of Directors and delivering monthly meals, and volunteering with his friends at the Sanford Lions Club, where he was named Lion of the Year in 2014. Dan also loved fishing at Ocean Isle with his buddy Wilson, washing his Corvette, and doing woodworking projects for his friends and family. But, what Dan cared about most was his love for the Lord and love for his family. He adored his wife Deborah of 56 years, and his best memories remained the ones traveling with her, his children, and grandchildren. He will always be remembered best by them as “Santa Dan”.

Daniel is survived by his best friend and wife, Deborah “Deb” Hilliard Egbert; son, Daniel C. Egbert II and wife Becky, their children, Jordan (16) and Lawson (14); daughter, Dawn E. Bailey and husband David, their children, Ella (16) and Emery (14).

The family will greet friends, Friday, January 16 at 10AM in the Fellowship Hall, followed by Funeral services at 11AM at First Baptist Church in Sanford. Burial with full military honors will be held at 1:30PM at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery (3835 Bonlee Carbonton Road, Goldston)
