Dale Bracken

Dale Stephens Bracken, 75, of Sanford, NC, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on July 17 after an extended illness. A visitation is scheduled for Sunday, July 22, 2 pm to 4 pm, at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home, 509 Carthage Street, Sanford.

She was predeceased by her daughters Melissa (Missy) Stephens Bracken and Susan (Sue) Bracken Dowd and her father Roy Craven Stephens. Surviving are her mother Hazel Stephens, her brother Jerry Stephens, her daughters Dawn Gladden (Allen), Jennifer Bracken (Michalis Mourtzis), and Amy Wolfe (Bryan), and her grandchildren Evan Barker, Abby Barker, Allie Degleris, Claire Degleris, and Nicholas Mourtzis. She dearly loved her caregivers Dorie, Beth, and Audrey.

Dale was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend. Being a nanny came naturally to Dale due to her lifelong love of children. She was also a health care provider, a teacher, and a volunteer. She was a fabulous cook and avid gardener, who was passionate about home designing and decorating. Her house was always open to her loved ones. Her generous and loving spirit, uniqueness, creativity, and big heart drew people to her and will always be remembered. There was never a dull moment around Dale.

Charitable contributions can be made to any Lee County school, specifically for art supplies.

My name isCarlein. I am a Bible teacher. I am sorry for your loss. A scripture that has given me much comfort is Revelation 21.4 which promises that one day death shall be no more. I hope this truth brings you comfort also.

I am very sorry for your loss! May God comfort your mourning hearts! Our heavenly Father promises a time when not only will death be wiped away but those who have already fallen asleep in death will be woken up! Death is an enemy according to the Bible and it will be permanently taken out of the picture very soon! God cannot lie so we do not doubt that this promise will become a reality!

1 Corinthians 15:26;
John 5:28, 29)

Many fond memories of our family get togethers through the bridge club. As many of yall know, she and my dad go back a long ways as childhood neighbors. He often talked about how she was the best athlete in the hood and always got picked first when they divided up teams. Hed also quickly add that she was bigger than all the boys too! Lol. And I can still see her smiling face as she would often respond in exasperation, Randy!...To this day, when I hear a Neil Diamond song, I often think of Mrs. Bracken. She was such a big fan...Very sorry for your loss and praying for you all.

We can look forward to the day when there will be no more sickness and death. Revelation 21:4 says: And he (God) will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away". God cares for the brokenhearted; Psalm 34:18 assures u hat he is close to them. Psalm 147:3; 1 John 4:9,19)
