Cleveland Doyle Gaines

Cleveland Doyle Gaines, 79 of Sanford passed away Thursday June 16, 2022.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Gaines was born in Lee Co a son of the late James Carl “JC” Gaines and Oteen Louise Jeffries Gaines. Doyle retired from the US Navy after 22 years of service as a Petty Officer First Class, he was a member of the Sanford Lions Club, First Baptist Church, a former member of Sanford Elks Lodge and he was a Mason. After his retirement from the US Navy, Doyle sold Real Estate with Wayne Spivey Real Estate for many years.

Doyle is survived by his wife, Peggy Thomas Gaines; daughter, Caroline Gibbs (Phillip); grandsons, Matthew Gibbs and Shawn Gibbs; sister, Amerlice C. Cone (W.C.); brother, Jeffrey Gaines; stepdaughters, Lori Johnson (Steve) and Donna Patterson (Daniel); step grandchildren, Courtney (Nick) Lee, Addison Johnson, and Sydney Patterson; step great-grandchildren, Rylan, Hudson, and Saylor; also, there are numerous nieces and nephews.
