Clara Leigh Cameron Privott, age 94, of Rocky Mount NC peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2023.
She was preceded in death by her parents Alexander Hamilton Cameron and Thelma Dunlap Cameron, her husband the Rev. John Winborne Privott, infant son David Privott, son Warren Winborne Privott and brother Warren Hamilton Cameron (Jim).
Mrs. Privott attended Appalachian State University and was a graduate of King's Business College. Through the years she was the perfect pastor's wife as she assisted her husband in his ministry and as the Director of Missions in the North Roanoke Baptist Association. After moving to Rocky Mount in 1970, the Privott family joined First Baptist Church where Mrs. Privott remained an active member. She will be remembered as a gracious, mild-mannered lady full of love, wit and humor and as a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her son, John Cameron Privott and wife Margaret, of Rocky Mount and children Dr Cameron McAlister Privott and wife Sarah, Thomas Winborne Privott and Emily Alexander Privott. Son, Robert Alexander Privott and wife Jackie, of Sanford and children Brittany Privott Johnson and husband Rodney, Alexander Scott Privott and wife Tiffany, John David Privott and wife Juvi, and stepson Seth Michael Thomas. Also, the late Warren Winborne Privott's son, Joseph David Privott. Other surviving family members include her sister, Lucille Cameron Cameron of Sanford, and brothers Thomas Edwin Cameron (Tom) and wife Daisy and Julian McNabb Cameron (Mac) and wife Brenda of Carthage. She leaves several dear nieces and nephews, and numerous close friends.
The family extends loving thanks and appreciation to Dr, David Browder and Mrs. Privott's invaluable home caretakers, Daphine Minchew, Andrea Minchew, Krista Minchew and Stephanie Cooper.
A private celebration of her life will be held at White Hill Presbyterian Church cemetery, 3335 White Hill Rd, Sanford, NC on Saturday, March 4th at 11:00.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Privott requested that memorials be sent to The ALS Association, North Carolina Chapter, 4 Blount Street, Suite 200, Raleigh, NC, 27601.
