Charlie Alvis Bryant Jr

Charlie Alvis Bryant, Jr. "Charlie" of Sanford, NC died while surrounded by family on September 8, 2026.

His parents were the late Charlie A Bryant, Sr. and Thelma Thomas Bryant of Sanford and is the brother of the late James Bryant who died as an infant and Catherine Bryant who died as a young girl. He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Wilson Bryant, daughter Charla Bryant, son Chan Bryant (Jennifer), grandchildren Taylor Bryant and Catherine Tilley (Harry), sister, Dorothy Grimme and nieces Emily Grimme and Jennifer Hanson (Brian).

Charlie loved the Lord and spent much of his life attending the Church of God of Prophecy, where he enjoyed preparing for and teaching Sunday School, and later attending the Church of God in Sanford, NC. His boyhood Church of Euphronia Presbyterian Church always held a special place in his heart.

Charlie loved working outdoors, golf, Wolfpack Sports, music of all kinds, particularly gospel, old time country and bluegrass music, butter-pecan ice cream, church homecomings, and covered dish suppers. He also loved people. He loved his family, many relatives and extended family of the Sessoms, Wilson, Phillips, and Miller clan, neighbors, co-workers at the City of Sanford, church members, classmates of Greenwood School, friends who gathered for music and fellowship at Clyde's Music Barn and the Circle-M Ranch, and the many other places in Sanford and beyond. Charlie often shared stories of those friends and families of his boyhood who he loved and shaped his life including those of Tillman’s, Harrison's, Jeffer's, Garner's and countless others. He also loved the many pets that called his house and property home over the years.

If you met Charlie, it is likely you were met with a smile, and you likely smiled in return. A person who met Charlie for the first time was heard to say that Charlie was one of those people that seemed to have never had a bad day.

If you want to do something to honor Charlie, the family asks that you give a little extra money to your church, offer a hand to your neighbor or a friend in need, and offer a smile and kindness to those people you meet along life's way.

The family is planning a gathering to celebrate the life of Charlie and details of that event will be forthcoming soon.
