Charles Dexter “Chuck” Johnson, formerly of Sanford, passed away on July 5, 2026 at his home in Kings Mountain, NC.

He was born on July 28, 1958 to William Chapin Johnson, Sr. and Elizabeth Womack Johnson. Chuck was a 1976 graduate of Sanford Central High School. Additionally, he was a graduate of Central Carolina Community College and an honor graduate of Montreat College receiving a bachelors degree. He was proud to be a veteran having honorably served in the US Army from 1984-1987. Chuck was a longtime fitness and bodybuilding enthusiast and enjoyed sharing and teaching health and fitness skills with others. He was the owner and operator of HUNKAR Luxury Limo Services, LLC and founder/chairman of PTSD Survivors. Chuck was also the former founder/owner of Medsyn, a holistic health and wellness company.

He is survived by his daughter, Bethany Stone (Scott); granddaughters Madison and Jordyn Stone, significant other Alissa Hembree; sisters Debra Johnson Smith, Susan Johnson Cashion Smith (Sheldon), Sandra Johnson Hoyle (Ken); five nephews, 3 nieces, an aunt, an uncle, many cousins and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Chapin “Billy” Johnson, Jr.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 pm Sunday August 23, 2026 at Asbury United Methodist Church in Sanford (where he was a member), followed by a military graveside committal. The family visitation will follow the graveside service in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Chuck's memory may be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project, The American Heart Association, or The American Cancer Society.
