Alton Ward Cockrell

Alton Ward Cockrell, 98 of Sanford passed away Saturday January 11, 2020. Graveside services will be held at 11:00AM Tuesday at Buffalo Cemetery.

Mr. Cockrell was born in Lee County, a son of the late Redmon E. Cockrell and Laura Rackley Cockrell. He also was preceded in death by a son Tony Cockrell.  Alton was a retired Pilot with the US Air Force, and later retired from the Employment Security Commission in Sanford.

Mr. Cockrell is survived by the love of his life Corinne Scott Cockrell they were married for 70 years; a son David Cockrell and wife Brenda of Sanford, daughter in law Lori Cockrell; granddaughters Christy Cockrell and Amanda Jett and husband Sam of Tennessee.

His love of life and people will be missed by those who knew and loved him. Special love and thanks go to two very special caregivers, Mattie and Kathy.
